First SHPP on dam outlets in Italy

In 2002 we took care of the construction design and work supervision of the hydropower plants on Mollaro and Santa Giustina dams (the highest Italian dam), in Non valley, in order to exploit the environmental flowsr for enetgy production purposes. The peculiarity that makes these plants unique is that the new derivations have been obteined drilling the body of the dams in order to install the penstocks. Bearing in mind that a dam in operation had never been drilled before, we had to tackle the technical problems relating to the safe execution of the holes and the subsequent fastening of the pipes in the body of the dams with specific innovative technologies.
