Akhieli hydropower plant
The project
Akhieli SHPP is the first hydropower plant in Georgia designed by FROSIO NEXT. The SHPP will be a run of river type. It will be diverted from the Chimghistskali river at an elevation of about 1849 m a.s.l.; an approximately 1,4 km long penstock will convey the water from the intake to the powerhouse.
Inside the powerhouse, a single production unit equipped with a horizontal axis cross-flow turbine will be installed.
According to the client’s requirements, alternative solutions for the forebay and for the desander have been elaborated.
